My lawyer and I verbally agreed to $ 1000.00 flat rate for an uncontested divorce. I gave him $500 to start by serving the Action for Divorce. He did serve this it has been past 30 days my spouse did not sign. My lawyer wants to now file default with the courts but wants his balance of $500 paid now?? But I still do not have my divorce?? Should I be concerned? I just wanted to know if this is legal and if I should be concerned?

My Russian wife and I have divorced a year ago. We are now dividing property in The US. Her mothers apartment was put in my wifes name during our marriage. She is not willing to negotiate or communicate. I would like to know what I may do in regards to forcing a sale of her apartment in Russia. She is claiming half the property here in spite of who paid for it. May I do the same in Russia? If so how could we do this?

My wife is Ukrainian. She left me while we were on a trip in America in August. I had been lying about drinking and using drugs. I was scared and ashamed. I have a history of alcoholism. I was without alcohol for 2.5 years. She new my problems. She left me cause she did not know what I was doing and I always told her I had to leave for no reason but the reason was me being addicted to drugs. I have quit the drugs and am working very hard to be the man she fell in love with and not the one that scared her and made her sad.

Her mom gave us an apartment and my dad spent 10,000 US dollars to remodel it. I had no interest in the house because it was in her moms name. I said she could have everything. I just want to delay this divorce to give me time to work on my issues and be the husband that I was. Is there anything you can do at the ZAGS that can give me a chance to have my interest heard or slow the divorce.

I can get divorced in Russia. I should add that it's likely that my wife will leave for the US - but I can file in Russia irrespective of whether my wife goes to UK, USA or continues to stay in Russia
