QuestionWE entered into a Stipulation of Settlement where I agreed to pay $250 in child support per week, provided my wife allowed me to claim our children as dependents on my tax return every year. She has now refused to sign the necessary IRS documents to let me do that. She wants to go to Court and ask them to change the agreement.

AnswerYour entitlement to claim children as tax exemptions is dependent upon your compliance "with the IRS rules". You wife should give up unless she can show that the agreement you have was unfair when entered into or that there has been unanticipated and unreasonable change in circumstances. This is extremely difficult to accomplish.
