Question

I'm an American. I'm married to a Russian citizen two years ago.

I have no idea in which regime we’ve got married.

I mean, all documents are written in Russian language, and we haven’t made any Marriage Contract before wedding.

I would like to know what my rights are if I ask a divorce.

The only one document I can give you is the Marriage Certificate.

Answer

If husband and wife have no marriage contract, then the current law regime of marital property. This means that all the property that is acquired during the marriage is the joint property of spouses, regardless of in whose name the property is purchased and who is a spouse to contribute money. Spouses can change the law regime of property at any time before divorce by signing the marriage contract.
